WCAT Community Forum Live with Ron Vecchia - FEMA Flood Zone Maps

Elliot Whittier Insurance sponsors WCAT Community Forum Live with Ron Vecchia on March 3, 2016.

Casey Correa and Christine Millerick-O'Keefe helped Winthrop homeowners understand more about the new federal flood map changes that will take effect in Suffolk County on 3/16/2016.   They took live calls and were able to pull up individual addresses on the pending maps in order to help Winthropites determine if their property was being re-mapped into a higher-hazard flood zone.

The biggest take-away of the show was this:  if you find that your property is being remapped from a low hazard zone to a high hazard zone, and you have a federally backed mortgage, you are well advised to talk to your insurance agent about purchasing a flood insurance policy now to be able to take advantage of the Grandfathering Clause.  The show will be re-broadcast on WCAT and is available on Elliot Whittier's YouTube channel  as well as on WCAT's YouTube Channel
